happy world book day!
happy world book day to all my book lovers out there! although i wasn't able to spend the day in a local bookstore today, i thought i would share the books that made me a reader. (disclaimer: i don't have the best memory so most of these are from my middle school years, but rest assured that i was also a little reader in elementary school!)
-1-
TUCK EVERLASTING was our read-aloud book in 6th grade and i fell in love with it. maybe it was the way my teacher read it to us, or maybe i was just entranced by the story, but i never forgot about Winnie Foster's adventures with the Tucks that fateful summer.

STARGIRL. i remember writing one of my first books reports on this book. i admired Stargirl's uniqueness and individuality and the fact that she didn't care about what other people thought about her. as someone who struggled (and is still struggling) with self-confidence, this book showed me the importance of dancing to the beat of my own drum.

one of my favorite fairy tales is ELLA ENCHANTED. this was another middle school read that i just devoured. i'm also obsessed with the movie because Anne Hathaway and Hugh Dancy are just fabulous in it. i think the scene with the giants is my favorite!

i never considered myself a huge sci-fi or fantasy reader, but in 5th grade i read A WRINKLE IN TIME and it is now one of my favorite books. Meg, Calvin, and Charles Wallace's adventure through space and time hooked me from the beginning!
-5-
fun fact: i own every book in the HEARTLAND series. i picked up book number 6, (yes, i remember which one!) in the 5th grade, finished it, and knew i needed to have them all. i distinctly remember the day my dad took me to the bookstore to buy all the copies they had in stock! (it's also a series on netflix if you want to give it a watch!)

and finally, can i even have a favorite books bookstack without mentioning Sarah Dessen? THE TRUTH ABOUT FOREVER is one of my favorite books and the first one of hers that i read. she will always be an automatic-buy author for me. i will forever recommend this book as a sweet YA read!
so tell me, how did you celebrate today, and what have you been reading? let me know, and as always, happy reading!
